ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Tuesday continued with their antiencroachment operations in Super Market.

The team of Building Control Directorate (BCD) removed encroachment made by the management of Mount View Plaza in Super Market.

According to CDA, the plaza management had encroached upon a public place and was running a coffee shop there.

`Today, we cleared all verandas of the plaza in question, while we also removed stairs set up on public land,` said director BCD Faisal Naeem.

He said in coming days, more such plazas would be targeted as according to building bylaws, passages and verandas are public places and no business activitycantake place there.

`We have planned operations to clear verandas in all markets, particularly in marakaz of Islamabad,` he said.

The director said that the owner of the plaza had beenissued seven notices by BCD but to no avail and `finally we conducted the operations,` he said.

In almost all public places in Islamabad markets, parking areas andverandas have been encroached upon by businessmen.

Particularly in both khada market of G-7 located near Fire Brigade even service roads have also partially been occu-pied by motor mechanics. While in other markets, verandas have been occupied by shopkeepers.

However, CDA officials claimed `now` authority will carry out opera-tion to remove all these encroachment.

Recently, the Supreme Court of Pakistan, while hearing a case related to encroachment, admonished CDA for its failure to remove the same. NowadaysCDA is carrying out a full-fledged drive as a few days ago a massive operation was also conducted in G-9 Markaz to retrieve the public places from car dealers.
