T HIS is with reference to the news `High court asks for mechanism to collect dog-bite data from DMCs` (May 7). The news item makes me wonder who will ensure the successful implementation of the Sindh rabies control programme project considering the poor performance and non-serious attitude of the local administration towards a number of lingering issues.
In a province where a large number of people are still deprived of basic necessities such as food, healthcare, education, publictransportation, safety and sanitation,it is futile to expect the local municipal authorities to become ef ficient and vaccinate each and every stray dog.
Dozens of stray dogs are seen roaming around in Gulshan-i-Iqbal, posing a serious threat to the residents, especially the children. The Sindh High Court is requested to take notice of the factors that are causing an increase in stray dogs.
