Judges briefed on medico-legal examinations

PESHAWAR A group of newly-promoted additional district and session judges on Sunday received briefing on various medico-legal examinations, techniques and forensic reports to help them enhance their knowledge in handling cases involving medical evidence.A statement issued here said that the briefing was held at the Khyber Medical College`s department of forensic medicine by medical experts. It was organised in collaboration with the Judicial Academy, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The briefing aimed to provide the judges with an in-depth understanding of various aspects of medico-legal reporting, examination techniques,report interpretation and other related topics.

The judges were briefed on a wide range of topics, including forensic autopsy procedures, the collection and preservation of evidence, forensic toxicology, and the interpretation of medicalreportsinlegalproceedings.Dean KMC Dr Mahmud Aurangzeb said department of forensic medicine had proven itself to be a valuable platform for knowledge exchange and networking among the judges.

He emphasised that the course was not only aimed to enhance the judges` understanding of forensic medicine butalso tofosteracollaborative approach between the medical and legal professions, ultimatelystrengthening the judicial system.

Prof Mahmud assured his full support for such collaborative activities supporting the criminal justice system in the province.

He termed it a significant step forward in ensuring that the judiciary was well-equipped to handle complex medico-legal matters, furthering the pursuit of justice in Pakistan.
