Underpass undergoes transformation

2025-05-22
MIANWALI: The district administration has resolved the drainage issue of the underpass on the Balokhel Road of Mianwali and renovated it with murals and lights.

The underpass on the road was constructed to deal with traffic jams caused by the railway crossing. On the train timings, long queues of vehicles would be formed on each side of the crossing and road users would have to wait for a long time. To resolve the issue, the underpass was built in the Musharraf regime.

The importance of this underpass can be realised that all educational institutions, private hospitals, district courts, DHQ Hospital and offices of all provincial and federal governments departments exist in other eastern parts of the city which need to be connected with the western part which had most ofthe population.

DC Khalid Javed Goraya, on persistent public complaints about draining issue, took notice of the decade-old problem faced by the citizens who were riled by the traffic snarl-ups whenever there was rainfall in the city.

To solve the underpass problem, the DC resolved the problem by installing modern drainage machines and a generator to use during electricity outages, which would happen with every rainfall.

After the first rainfall a few days ago, not a single drop of rainwater accumulated in the underpass.

Apart from the induction of a new drainage system, another change was made under the beautification campaign for the underpass by renovating it with murals and installation of lights which light it up at night. Correspondent
