Canvassing for AJK Legislative Assembly seat intensifies

MANSEHRA: All the four candidates for the AJK Legislative Assembly LA-41 Valley 6 seat have focused their attention on Mansehra, where 2,750 of the 5,650 Kashmiri voters registered across the province live.
Among them are Mohammad Fiaz Solaria of the JUI-F, Abdul Majid Khan of the PTI, Noorul Bari of the Jamaat-i-Islami and Abdul Rehman Solaria of the PPP.
A tough contest is expected between Abdul Majid Khan of the PTI and Mohammad Fiaz Solaria of the JUI-F.
The election will take place on July 21.
All the four have been spending most of the time in Mansehra since theelectioneering formally began last weel< in a bid to woo more and more voters by going from door to door and organising corner meetings.
Addressing corner meetings in Shinkiari and Mansehra, the candidates claimed they would go all-out for the welfare of Kashmiris living in the province.
They also leveled allegations against each other.
Fiaz Solaria claimed if the people voted him to power, he would ensure the accountability of the plunderers of the LA-41 funds meant for Kashmiris living in KP.
He complained about irregularities in the land acquisition for residential colonies in Mansehra and Shinkiari and demanded that the Election Commission take note of them.
Abdul Majid Khan insisted his rivals lacked vision to change the fate of Kashmiris settled in KP.
He accused the JI of using Zakat funds on election campaign and said he was confident the people would reject those using such funds to serve political ends.
Noorul Bari alleged Abdul MajidKhan had embezzled funds meant for the welfare of Kashmiris living in KP.
Abdul Rehman Solari said he would serve Kashmiris after being elected to the AJK Legislative Assembly.
He said the PPP had done a lot for the Kashmir cause and therefore, the people should vote for him for its better projection in the assembly.
ROBBER HELD: The Mansehra police have arrested the leader of an interprovincial gang of robbers.
`We have arrested Abdul Waris, who masterminded the Shinklari Road robbery of cellphones and goods valuing R s9 million last month. E f forts are under way to arrest his accomplices,` superintendent of police (investigation) Gul Zareen Khan told reporters here on Tuesday.
The SP said the arrested outlaw was the leader of a gang involved in a series of robberies across the province, especially Hazara division.
He said Abdul Waris had rented a shop in Shams Plaza on fake national identity card and burgled many adjoining shops at night with the help of his father and other gang members.
