(EDITORIAL) Not until the Death Ray of fiction writers materialises will there be a really secret weapon, but not for long unless all scientists have been killed in the meanwhile. Much had been made of the secret weapons with which the Germans would annihilate their enemies in this war but one by one their new inventions are turning out to be damp squibs. The magnetic mine in its initial introduction had taken a heavy toll of Allied shipping but counter measures were not long in coming and degaussing of ships have resulted in making the mines ineffective.
If the pilotless planes were intended to strike terror in Britain, the Allies seem already unperturbed by them. The waves of bombers that blitzkrieged Britain did more damage than these aircraft which projected on a dead course by radio control could effect disaster only more by accident than by purpose. To eliminate the human control could mean a saving of pilots for the Nazis but robbed of manoeuvrability in the face of attacks, the planes present almost a sitting target to anti-aircraft fire ...
