APROPOS the editorial `Tax rates`. The current budget shows a sharp increase in taxes to back the faltering economy. The government has threatened to handle the situation with an iron fist. It is necessary to take strict measures against nontaxpayers. Despite, a good plan to encourage people to pay taxes and a clear distinction between filers and non-filers, the previous government failed to bring the general public to the doorstep of the income tax office.
The masses must cooperate with the state to bring the country out of this economic crisis.
