Artworks of Turkish calligraphers exhibited

TOBA TEK SINGH: Artworks of Turkish calligraphers were exhibited in a two-day exhibition that concluded followed by a workshop at the Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan Auditorium in Faisalabad on Tuesday. The event, called Loh-o-Qalam, was organised by the Calligraphers Association of Pakistan.

Artworks of award-winning calligraphers belonging to Turkey, including Ahmad Faras Razzaq, Dawood Bakhtash, Arsika, Jawad Khoran, Kamal Albahri, Usman Chechik, Shreen Abdul Haleem and Muhammad Jaber, and Pakistani calligraphers Irf an Qureshi, Khalid Mahmood Siddiqi, Saeed Nudrat, Rana Ghazanfar Ali and ZubairMughal, were exhibited.

Commissioner Zahid Hussain was the chief guest in the ceremony while Faisalabad Deputy Commissioner Suhail Ashraf distributed prizes among the artists. The National College of Arts Lahore`s Professor Irfan Siddiqi, Professor Wajahat Ali and Pariha Ghaffar deliveredlecturesin the workshop on traditional and modern calligraphy.

ELECTROCUTED: A minor boy was electrocuted duringrainonKhurrianwalaRasoolpura Road in Faisalabad on Tuesday.

The Rescue 1122 reported that 12-year-old Shahjahan was crossing the road through the accumulated rainwater.

He suddenly touched an electric pole on the roadside, received electric shocks and died on the spot.
