IT was on Dec 21, 2023, that my spouse had applied for the renewal of her CNIC at the North Nazimabad mega centre of the National Database Registration Authority (Nadra). After going through the computerised record, the official raised the objection that she had migrated to Pakistan from India in 1965, and was required tofurnish anationality/ citizenship certificate from the relevant department.
This was despite the fact that she was already a CNIC holder (42101-15144058). Since then, we have appeared before a Nadra panel in January 2024, and in May 2024 the Federal Ombudsman issued a verdict in our favour, But Nadra has refused to acknowledge the authority of the ombudsman.
We happen to be senior citizens and Nadra is not making life any easier for us.
Can someone in the federal government intervene to have this matter settled? Hasan Afzaal Karachi
