CHARSADDA: A seven-year-old boy drowned, while six women and children were rescued when a motorcycle rickshaw fell into a canal in the Ziarat Kallay area of Charsadda district on Saturday.
Sources said the women and children were going in the rickshaw from Katozai to attend a wedding ceremony in Tangi when the driver lost control over the tri-wheeler after a tyre burst.
As a result, the rickshaw plunged into the canal. Bystanders managed to rescue six women and two children, while a boy drowned. He was identified as Marwan, a resident of Sadar Garhi.
Local people and Rescue 1122 divers launched a search operation to recover the body.
Meanwhile, a video of a woman protesting alone against power outages on CharsaddaPeshawar Road went viral on social media, gaining public support.
In the video, the woman can be seen fearlessly standing alone on the road, challenging men, saying if women can come out onto the streets, why the men are remaining silent spectators.
She criticised the government`s `indifference`, expressing her anger over prolonged power cuts, low voltage, and repeated tripping.
Her voice in the video reflects frustration, despair, and the pain of the public, which has deeply resonated with viewers.
