Search continues for man who drowned in Swat River

LOWER DIR: The joint search and rescue operation by Rescue 1122 teams from Lower Dir and Malakand entered its third consecutive day on Saturday, as efforts continued to locate a missing person who drowned in Swat River near Ghora Ghat Chakdara.

According to officials, two individuals drowned in the river on Thursday when they were taking bath.

The body of one person, identified as 32-year-old Aleem, a resident of Chakdara Gul Maqam, was recovered the same day.

Rescue teams, including professional divers, areasing scuba diving, boats, ine search, and other second missing person.Meanwhile, the body of a seminary student who belonged to the Ouch area was recovered from the river on the seventh day near Batkhela the other day, who had drowned in Swat River a few days ago.

Meanwhile, A 20-year-old man died after being struck by lightning in the Rani area on Saturday, Rescue 1122 officials confirmed.

According to the emergency service, Rescue 1122 Lower Dir`s medical team reached the site promptly and provided initial medical assistance and shifted the victim to a hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.

The deceased was identified as Mirza Gul, son of Khaista Gul, a resident of Khall.

Also on Saturday, Police in Samar Bagh arrested a man accused of shooting and killing his son over aminor dispute in the Jauzo area.

The suspect, Abdul Latif, allegedly opened fire on his young son, Shahid Khan, following a verbal altercation.

The case was registered under Section 302 on the complaint of the victim`s widow.

The suspect confessed to the crime during interrogation. DPO Khalid praised the police team`s swift and professional response and vowed continued action against crime.
