MANSEHRA: Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zulfiqar Hameed on Saturday said that the police were providing foolproof security and otheressentialservicestoboth local and foreign tourists in the province.

`Tourism is the backbone of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa`s economy, and the number of visitors to its scenic valleys and resorts has been increasing every year due to the peaceful environment and unmatched hospitality,` Mr Hameed told reporters at the tourist facilitation centre in Naran, the commercial hub of Kaghan Valley, here.

Accompanied by district police officer Shafiullah Khan Gandapur, the IGP said he was satisfied with the functioning of facilitation centres, where male and female police personnel were guiding and assisting visitors from across the country and abroad.

`The presence of doctors and para-medics at the centre demonstrates the police department`s commitment to ensuring visitors` health and safety,` he said.

Mr Hameed praised the district police for their performance, saying a record number of people visited Kaghan Valley on the occasion of Eidul Azha, and the police provided them with security, guidance and health services round the clock.

`The police are a people-friendly force, and this facilitation centre reflects that spirit, offering warm hospitality and assistance to every visitor, including women,` he said.

Briefing the IGP, DPO Gandapur said for the first time, medical teams with doctors were deployed at the tourist facilitation centre to provide on-site health and emergency services to visitors, especially women and children.

Meanwhile, the IGP also inaugurated several projects under the Security Fortification Drive 2025 and addressed a ceremony, reaffirming the department`s resolve to maintain law and order during Muharram.

`I have directed all deputy inspectors general and district police officers across the province to ensure foolproofsecurity during Muharram, and additional personnel will be deployed in sensitive and most sensitive areas throughout Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,` he said.

KILLED: A two-year-old boy was killed and his father and a brother suffered critical injuries in the Anayatabad area on Saturday when an adjacent house`s boundary wall fell on them.

The three remained buried under the collapsed wall before neighbours re covered them and shifted them to the King Abdullah Teaching Hospital. However, doctors declared two-year-old Mohammad Tufail dead.

Mr Hameed and his other son were referred to the Ayub Medical Complex, Abbottabad, due to critical injuries.

In the FIR lodged with Baffa police, Mr Hameed insisted that he had repeatedly warned his neighbour about the `dangerously unstable` rooftop wall and called for the construction of a solid wall, but warnings were ignored.

He said his family members were sitting in the backyard when the incident occurred.

The police registered a case under Section 322 of the Pakistan Penal Code andlaunched a searchforthe accused.
