CHARSADDA: Unknown assailants gunned down religious figure Maulana Pir Mohammad Ibrahim near Muftiabad in the limits of Tangi police station here on Monday.

His brother-in-law, Zakir, a resident of Prang Ghar area, filed a report with the Tangi police, saying that he was coming to Tangi Bazaar on a motorcycle along with Maulana lbrahim, a resident of Swat district, who is currently residing in Prang Ghar, to buy some essential items.

He said when they reached Berlin Road in Muftiabad area, two men riding a motorcycle stopped next to their bike and started firing at them.

As a result of the firing, his brother-in-law, Maulana Ibrahim died on the spot due to bullet injuries, while he himself got seriously wounded, the complainant said.

The police reached the spot, collected evidence and started an investigation.
