Case against seven for kidnapping bride-to-be

BAHAWALNAGAR: The Takht Mahal police on Sunday registered a case against seven men, four of them nominated, for kidnapping a woman a month before her wedding at Basti Dhudiyan.

According to the FIR, the wedding of 20-yearold Mehnaz Bibi of Basti Dhudiyan was fixed for Aug 24 and the celebrations were going on at her home.

On July 24, Mehnaz left the house around Sam to answer nature`s call and was on her way to fields when seven men on a pickup forcibly took her to an unknown location after bundling her into the vehicle. Some locals tried to rescue the woman after hearing her cries but the abductors managed to escape, it added.

The FIR said that later the captors confessed to their crime and promised to return the woman when her family found their clue and met them along with eyewitnesses.

However, later theystarted making lame excusesand didnotreturn the woman despite the passage of several days.

The family finally approached police for legal action and a case on the complaint of the victim`s brother was registered against four nominated and three unknown men under section 365 B, it added.

Police said no arrest had been made in this case so far.

RAPE: A mother of three has been raped at gunpoint allegedly by her husband`s close friend in thepresenceofherdaughters at Chak Sarkari.

The Madrassa police said a resident of Chak Sarkari was raped by her husband`s friend whom the couple had banned in their house for having evil intentions.

On Aug 20, the woman was at her home along with her three minor daughters when the suspect and his accomplice barged into her house and raped her at gunpoint.

Police said a case had been registered against the two persons.
