Woman killed by husband in Okara

OKARA: A mother of two was beaten to death by her husband and his accomplices on Saturday.

As per the first information report (FIR), nine or 10 years ago, Tania was married to Imtiaz, of village Murdani. Tania`s in-laws had a land dispute with her father which would affect her domestic life.

Imtiaz did not allow her to visit her parents at village 639-GB in Nankana Sahib. A few days back, Tania insisted on seeing her parents as her brother Usman, an army jawan, was also visiting home.

When Imtiaz turned down her request, Tania and her in-laws exchanged words and later on, Imtiaz with Nazir Ahmad, Ishtiaq, Nawaz and Farzana Bibi beat her to death.

On the report of Tania`s mother, Shamim Akhtar, the Gogera police registered a case against five suspects.

POLIO: Up to 627,114 children ages up to five years will be administered anti-polio vaccine across the district in a five-day campaign start-ing from Monday, Chief Executive Officer-health Dr Akhtar Baloch said at a meeting on Sunday.

Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Irfan Kathia inaugurated the drive and said it was our national duty to make the country polio-free and in this regard, opinion makers, especially patents, ulema and social activists should cooperate with field teams.

Health authorities said 15 dengue patients were brought to the district from outside the revenue limits of the district and presently two patients were under treatment at the DHQ city hospital.

ROAD ACCIDENT: A teenage girl was killed while her father and brother suffered multiple injuries when a tractor hit the motorcycle they were riding on ShahniwalHujra Road, Rescue 1122 said.

Manzoor Ahmad with his son Sabir and daughter Rasoolan Bibi suffered injuries, and later Rasoolan died at the scene while Manzoor and Sabir were shifted to the Diplaur THQ Hospital in critical condition.
