Gojra trader shot dead by dacoits in Daharki

TOBA TEK SINGH: A goat trader of Gojra has allegedly been killed by dacoits in Daharki, Sindh.

As per police, Arif of Dastgir Colony, Gojra, a goat trader, had gone to Dharki town of Sindh, along with his son Asadullah, to buy goats.

They said the father and son were intercepted by robbers near the town and when Arif offered resistance, the criminals opened fire, leaving him seriously injured.

The dacoits fled away after snatching hundred of thousands of rupees from them.

Arif was immediately rushed to hospital, where he succumbed to his bullet wounds.His body was taken into custody by Dharki police and was later handed over to his after an autopsy. The son brought his father`s body to Gojra on Monday.

ENCOUNTERS: Police claim that two arrested suspects were injured in the firing by their fellow criminals in two separate `encounters` late on Sunday night in T T Singh.

According to police spokesperson, a suspected robber, Tahir Abbas, of Muoza Mehrem Kathia, was being taken to Chak 735-GB for identification of looted valuables, when his four unidentified accomplices opened fire on police van to snatch him.The police retaliated the fire and when the firing from the criminals` side stopped, police found the suspect lying injured.

The police claimed he was injured in the firing of his fellow criminals.

He was shifted to Pirmahal Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital for treatment.

Police claim Tahir holds a criminals record and is wanted in various cases.

In the other incident, Kamalia police said they were taking a suspected robber, Khalid, a resident of Jhang, to Chak 54/1-GB for recovery of booty, when their van was attacked by two criminals near the village`s graveyard.The police said the two criminals opened fire on them to snatch the suspect. As a result, Khalid was seriously wounded in the `criminals` fire`.

SIRAJ: Jamaat-i-Islami Emir Sirajul Haq visited Christian localities in Jaranwala on Monday to show solidarity with those whose houses were burnt by a mob.

Talking to the media, he announced constructing these houses besides issuing interest-free loans to the Christian youth to start their business.

He said the JI would arrange dowry for those poor girls whose goods were taken away by the miscreants. Correspondent
