IGP orders to set up security desk

PESHAWAR: Inspector General of Police Nasir Khan Durrani on Monday directed the quarters concerned to set up a security desk to deal with the security of sensitive and vulnerable establishments and threats alerts.

A statement issued here said that the decision was taken at a meeting of the regional police officers (RPOs) conference held with Nasir Khan Durrani in the chair to discuss the aftermath of attack on Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Badaber camp.

It said that the meeting discussed prevalent security situation in the province and decided to beef up security of all sensitive installations.

The meeting also decided to adopt offensive strategy against militants and extremists.

Mr Durrani said that joint search and strike operations against militants` sleeper cells and their facilitators should be continued to purge the settled areas.

The meeting also stressed the need for police checking on the arteries connecting tribal areas with settled areas.

The IGP directed the RPOs and DPOs to form village and neighbourhood liaison committees for surveillance of new tenants, use of loudspeaker for hate speech and other issues.

The meeting also discussed security for Eidul Azha and Muharram. The RPOs of Mardan, Hazara, Malakand, Dera Ismail Khan, Bannu, Kohat and Peshawar police chief also attended the meeting.
