RAWALPINDI: Chief Secretary Punjab Khizar Hayat Gondal on Monday directed the district administration to ensure the continuation of anti-dengue activities during the Eidul Azha holidays.

He said lifting of waste of sacrificial animals should be ensured from streets and roads of the city and cantonment areas by the Solid Waste Management Authority. He also said fogging and spray should be carried out to eliminate mosquitoes in graveyards and parks before Eidul Azha under the supervision of the health department teams.

The chief secretary directed Rawal Town Administrator Imran Qureshi to ensure cleanliness in and along Nullah Leh.

No one should be permitted to throw solid waste or construction debris in and along the banks of the Nullah, he added.

Mr Gondal said FIRs be registered against those found throwing solid and construction waste in the open plots and places which had already been cleaned and swept by the Rawalpindi Solid Waste Management Company.

He said anti-dengue and surveillance teams already deputed and working in different areas of Rawalpindi, especially in the union councils affected by dengue, should continue their activities during the Eid days.

He also underlined the need for anti-dengue spray in the under-construction buildings.

The surveillance of dengue-affected areas in the union councils of Chah Sultan and Amarpura should be enhanced, he added.
