Class-IV posts `scam` Another case against deputy director for attack on ACE team

MUZAFFARGARH: The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) has registered another case against the deputy director (colleges) and her staff for allegedly attacking its team and attempting to destroy evidence during an operation to investigate illegal recruitment to 72 classIV posts in the department of higher education.

The case was registered against deputy directorMadamShaheen Begum, her clerk, and three other unidentified suspects on the complaint of ACE circle officer Mujahid Hussain.

According to the first information report (FIR), the ACE team from Muzaffargarh reached the deputydirector`s office to take record of the bogus recruitment.

The stenographer, who was arrested by the ACE team, claimed that a computer in the office contained allthe record.

When the ACE team entered the office, the other staff, along with the deputy director, attempted to destroy the evidence and resisted arrest.

The ACE team registered a case against them at the city police station under sections 506, 511, 353, 148, 149, 201, and 186 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

The circle officer said the deputy director had been suspended for the past two days, but she was still sitting in the office.

On the other hand, Madam Shaheen claimedthat the ACE team attacked her when she asked them to give her a receipt for the record.

She alleged that they refused and tried to enter her office and misbehaved with her. She also claimed that she was not suspended and that she was sitting in her office on interim bail.

Meanwhile, the ACE judge approved the interim bail of the deputy director till Sept 28.

The clerk and head clerk were handed over to the police on four-day physical remand.

Talking to Dawn, Madam Shaheen claimed that the case against her and her staff was fabricated as she was not the signing authority and did not make the merit lists.

She said only the principals of colleges were responsible and were theappointing authorities.

ESCAPE: Two suspects, who were in the custody of Kot Addu police station, escaped by cutting the bars of the lock-up.

District Police Officer Syed Hasnain Haider has suspended the SHO and other staff of the police station and started an inquiry against them.

Sources said the suspects had been arrested for goat theft. Raids are being conducted for their arrest.
