Robbers kill two in separate hits

RAHIM YAR KHAN: Robbers killed two people in separate incidents in the limits of Kotsamaba police station on Thursday while villagers overpowered one of the suspects and handed him over to police.

In the first incident, youth Umair was on his way home by his motorbike on Wednesday night on Kotsamaba-MianwaliQureshian Road when some suspects intercepted him to snatch his bike. Umair resisted, andthe robbers started firing, injuring him critically.

He was shifted to Sheikh Zayed Medical College Hospital emergency where he succumbed to his injuries due to the alleged unavailability of the deputy medical superintendent (DMS) the whole night and the non-completion of his signature on documents.

According to hospital staff, DMS` signature is mandatory for providing treatment. The suspects escaped with Umair`s motorcycle and other valuables.

In the second incident, Jalil was going on Sonic Road when some suspects snatched a large amount of money from him and shot him dead. The suspects escaped into a sugarcane field.Meanwhile, locals caught one of them and handed him over to the police.

The residents of Kotsamaba Town have criticised the increasing incidents of crime in the jurisdiction of ASP Saddar circle. According to locals, the crime rate registered an increase after the posting of Station House Officer Salim Darigh.

Darigh was allegedly involved in tampering with his documents submitted to the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) for his promotion some months back.

Police spokesperson Saif Ali Wains told journalists that they were investigating the incidents and would arrest the robbers soon.
