Accidents claim six lives on motorway

TOBA TEK SINGH: A Rawalpindi-to-Lahore bus on motorway near Kot Momin interchange overturned on Thursday evening.

Four passengers died and five other others were injured.

A motorway police spokesperson said that the accident occurred due to a burst tyre. The injured were shifted to the Kot Momin THQ hospital by the motorway police.

In another incident, a pickup traveling from Sargodha to Islamabad overturned on motorway near Pindi Bhattian and two people died while the driver suffered injuries.

The accident occurred due to speedingfactors.

The motorway authorities shifted them to the Pindi Bhattian THQ hospital, where Amjad Ali of Faisalabad and Bashir Ahmad of Gujrat succumbed to their injuries.

NEW RATES: The Punjab Labour and HR Department notified on Thursday an increase in wages for brick kiln workers for per 1,000 bricks from Rs1,850 to Rs2,368.

Spe cial bricks and tiles will now fetch Rs2,797 per 1,000 bricks, while hand-pushed cart operators for shifting to the kiln will receive Rs599 per 1,000 bricks.

Owners of donkey carts for brick transportation to the kiln will earn Rs769 per 1,000 bricks.

FESCO: Fesco board of directors chairman Malik Tehseen Awan announced a reward scheme on Thursday at a press conference. He said the informants who report power theft to Fesco will receive 10% ofthe recovered fine from the accused consumer.

The identity of informers will be kept confidential, and information about electricity thieves will be shared with Nadra to cancel their identity cards and passports.

Fesco has also disconnected power connection to 20 illegal housing societies and began investigating Fesco employees involved in providing them with illegal connections.

An incentive scheme for employees based on recovered dues from permanently disconnected consumers was also introduced, under which divisional staff will receive 4 per cent, and circle and headquarters staff receiving 2pc. During the 16-day campaign against electricity theft, over 1,400 cases have been reported, a Rs170 million fine has been re covered.

KILLED: Two persons were murdered in an attack by their rivals over a property dispute in Chak Jhumra, Faisalabad, on Thursday.

Dr Imran Saleem of Chak 117-JB and his security guard were in their property office in Adnan Garden near motorway Deputywala interchange when four people opened fire, injuring both of them. Although they were being rushed to the Allied Hospital, they succumbed to their injuries during the journey.

SHOW: An NGOorganised puppetry show took place in Toba Tek Singh on Thursday to raise awareness about the importance of voter education and the issuance of identity cards to women.

The show aimed to educate local women about the significance of ID cards and the importance of their votes using puppetry as a medium.
