CM asked to fulfil promises or step down

2013-10-22
PESHAWAR, Oct 21: The women wing of the provincial chapter of Pakistan People`s Party (PPP) has asked the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to materialise its commitments or step down.

`If Chief Minister Pervez Khattak fails to fulfil his promises, then our workers know well how to force the government to step down,` PPP women wing provincial president Asma Alamgir told a press conference at her residence here on Monday.

She said that the chief minister had claimed to bring a change in the system in 90 days but he failed to do so. He had no right to remain in power any longer, she added.

Ms Alamgir said that despite reservations, her party accepted the election results and gave time to Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leaders to implement their agenda for which they were voted to power.

She recalled that the PTI leaders had committed to bring revolution, restore peace, control price hike and provide jobs to the people but they could neither honour their commitment nor they had the capability to resolve any of those issues. The PPP leader claimed that her party`s leadership knew well how to run the affairs of the country and soon Bilawal Bhutto Zardari would enter the main stream politics to focus on major issues.

She said that the grandfather and mother of Bilawal rendered sacrifices of their lives for the nation and country. Bilawal`s father had been kept behind bars for more than 10 years without proving any crime against him, she added.

Ms Alamgir said that her party and people were aware of the sacrifices of Asif Zardari, who ran affairs of the government with consensus during the last five years.

Reposing confidence in the leadership of Asif Zardari and Bilawal, she said that PPP workers would render sacrifices and follow the principles of their leaders.

Her husband and former federal minister Arbab Alamgir, who was also present on the occasion, said that the government was confused and had no planning and vision.

He opposed holding of negotiations with militants, saying the country would witness the worst situation after the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan in 2014.-Bureau Report
