Industrial workers to get technical education

PESHAWAR: The Pakistan Industrial Technical Assistance Centre (PITAC) and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chamber of Commerce and Industry have agreed to devise joint strategy for imparting free of cost technical education to the industrial workers to enhance their skills.

The decision was taken by KPCCI office-bearers and PITAC officials in a meeting here on Wednesday, said a statement. PITAC senior manager operation and works Mohammad Irfan Zaheer and coordination officer Mohammad Nadir Jan while sharing views about significance of labourers` training nominated KPCCI senior vice president Imad Rasheed as governing body member of the Pakistan Industrial Technical Assistance Centre.

The meeting stressed the need for taking practical steps for development of indus trialisation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to overcome the increasing unemployment by imparting technical education to the workers.

Mr Rasheed said the PITAC officials that majority of the skilled labourers in local industries belonged to Punjab province. He said that if PITAC extended technical assistance to the local uneducated labouers then the industrialists would need not to recruit employees from other provinces.

He asked PITAC to provide free training to the workers in the mechanical, civil, electrical and auto trades.

The PITAC officials agreed to the proposals and said that all possible steps would be taken for the improvement of industrialisation. They said that PITAC would provide technical education to the uneducated youth in the province.

The PITAC delegation expressed the hope that coordination between the two organisations would help to improve skills of the workers and promote industrialisation in the province.

The participants of the meeting also discussed the problems being faced by the industrialists and workers owing to the prolonged spell of terrorism. They said that it was time to pay full attention to boosting of the local economy to overcome the problems faced by both industrialists and workers.Bureau Report
