Departments on alert for Ashura

ABBOTTABAD: Deputy commissioner Khalid Mehmood has put several departments on alert for Ashura and asked them to keep close liaison with the central control room of Abbottabad till Oct 25 for completing their tasks.
In a directive, he asked the officials of the public health department, all the rural health centres and basic health units, district hospital, district council, municipal committee, civil defence and revenue department of Abbottabad to remain on duty.
TMA officials have been asl(ed to remove garbage and keep the roads and streets clean besides making standby arrangements of ambulance service in hospitals, especially on the route of Ashura procession.
Meanwhile, assistant commissioner Mir Raza Ozgan has formed a 14-member peace committee, which met here at his office. The committee includes Khateeb of Shehzada Masjid Maulana Afsar Ali Shah, member district council Nadeem Mughal, members of tehsil councils Waseem advocate, Sher Dil and ex-nazim Kamran Ahmed, and representatives of traders Farman Shah, Ghulam Haider, Shabbir Ahmed, Maulana Aneesur Rehman, Qamar Rizvi and Sardar Faisal.
