No holidays for doctors, paramedics

RAWALPINDI: Rawalpindi Medical College (RMC) Principal and Chief Executive Officer of three government run hospitals Prof. Dr.

Muhammad Umer on Tuesday canceled the vacations of doctors and paramedical staff till Ashura to deal with any emergency.Holy Family Hospital, Benazir Bhutto Hospital and District Headquarters Hospital managements had been asked to increase beds in emergency department.

A senior doctor of the HFH told Dawn that the hospitals had already been on alert providing treatment to dengue patients.

He said the doctors and nurses had been directed to ensure their pres-ence in the hospital during Muharram 7 to Muharram 10 night. He said that the administration also made arrangements of the life saving drugs in the hospitals.

He said that due to dengue patients, ENT and eye wards had already vacated and for the additional beds, some rooms of new building of RMC adjacent to Holy Family Hospital vacated for the dengue patients.
