ISLAMABAD: Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Mohammad Ali Randhawa on Monday stressed the need for expediting developmental work in all sectors.

According to a statement, a meeting on the development of sectors was held at the CDA headquarters, which was chaired by Mr Randhawa. Members of the CDA Board and senior officers from the concerned formations attended the meeting. The meeting was aimed at expediting developmental work across various sectors and address issues related to land and built-up property (BUP).

The CDA chairman directed the engineering and estate wings to coordinate closely to ensure seamless execution of the development work. He stressed the importance of promptly resolving issues that could obstruct progress on the work. He said he will visit the sectors to monitor the resolution of issues and accelerate the development process.

Regarding C-14, the meeting was informed that around 68pc development work had been completed while work on culverts was in progress.

The meeting decided to resolve possession issues in Sector C-15 as soon as possible. The chairman directed to address the BUP issues in the sector.

The meeting was told that major development work had already completed in C-16 with only a few streets awaiting completion.

In E-12, the development work is underway. In sub-sector E-12/1, 65pc development work has been competed while the estimate for the remaining work was in progress.

The chairman instructed the Estate Wing to ensure the acquisition of the remaining land so that tender can be published for the remaining development work. He directed to hand over possession of plots where development work had been completed.

It may be mentioned that a few months ago Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi had directed the CDA to start development work in sectors besides digitising the land record within six months.

The CDA, which is supposed to develop sectors in the capital, has failed in this area as it could not develop any new sector after D-12 which was completed in 2008.

E-12 is the highlight of the stalled sectors. Plots in this sector were sold by the CDA in 1989 and it has not been developed even now with many who purchased the land having passed away.

In 2005, the CDA launched I-15 and sold plots, but people are still waiting to get possession in this sector.

However, work in this sector along with I-12 is now near completion.

In 2008, the CDA through a land-sharing formula acquired several other sectors D-13, E-13, F-13, H-16, C-13, C-14, C-15 and C-16. Out of them, development work is in progress only in C-14 and C-15 amid no signs of development in other sectors.

As per the city`s master plan, sectors H-13, H-15, H-16, H-14, H-17, D-14, D-15, and D-16 are also supposed to be developed by the civic agency.
