PAT convenes APC on 28th to plan `protest movement`

2017-12-22
LAHORE: The Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) has convened an `all-parties conference` on Dec 28 for what it called, `developing collective ownership` of the protest movement that may follow the expiry of deadline it has set for resignations of chief minster, law minister and officials .

Addressing a press conference along with Sheikh Rashid of the Awami Muslim League, PAT chief Dr Tahirul Qadri claimed all major political and religious parties had accepted invitation to the moot to finalise the post-deadline plan.

He also claimed to have obtained a part of the official record of what happened on June 17, 2014 when 14 PAT workers were killed in a police operation in Model Town.

According to him, 809 special shooters and snipers from 45 police stations of the city took part in the operation. Out of them, he said, 204 belonged to special force of police.

`How can such a grand operation be carried out without the approval of the chief minister,` he said, adding the PAT was sure it all happened with the consent of Shahbaz Sharif `so he could not escape the consequences.

`The PAT would pursue the case till its logical end and could see both Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and law minister Rana Sana Ullah being hanged in the end,` he said.

Sheilch Rashid, who earlier had one-on-one meeting with the PAT chief, said he would stand by Qadri in all his decisions.

`Imran Khan has just messaged me to convey his willingness (to Mr Qadri) to be part of both events (the APC and possible protest movement),` he said.

Rapping the government over its economic policies, he said import bill had swelled to over $50 billion and exports dropped below $20bn.

Impervious to all these development, the prime minister was dolling out money for political reasons, he added.

He alleged the Sharifs were least bothered by the country`s bad economy and were `playing good cop, bad cop`
