`Federal ombudsman disposed of 216,000 cases`

THATTA: The federal ombudsman has disposed of 216,000 cases filed by people in the past one year against various institutions, organisations and agencies falling within the jurisdiction of the federal government.

Briefing reporters after hearing various complaints and cases against different departments of the federal govern-ment at Circuit House Maldi here on Friday, Federal Ombudsman Secretariat Senior Adviser Muhammad Ishaque Lashari said the secretariat had also started an initiative `speedy complaint resolution` for providing quick solution and justice to citizens within 15 days.

Accompanied by other advisers to the secretariat, Ms Nayar Zafar and Ms Zareena Zaidi, he said that in this regard efficient teams of senior and honest officers were being formed to conduct inquiry1(acharies even at district, taluka and union council levels to curb maladministration, discourage corruption and raise awareness among the masses to raise their voice against injustice and get their grievances addressed at an early stage.

Stressing dire need of awareness campaign regarding the laws and rules dealing with the federal ombudsman and submission of applications or complaints, he said media could play a significant role in this regard.
