NAROWAL: Sialkot police claimed on Monday to have recovered a 16-year-old boy who had been kidnapped for ransom from Vehari two weeks back.
Yasir Riaz, a resident of Chak EB/483 (Vehari), complained to the police that on Jan 7, his son Mohsin Ali was kidnapped by unknown men. The Vehari police registered a kidnap case.
Police said Mohsin Ali called his family on Jan 15 and sent a message from the kidnappers to arrange Rs2 millionfor his release.
According to police sources, the phone number from which the family received the call was immediately switched off by the suspects.
Sialkot police spokesman Muhammad Nauman said the Vehari DPO contacted his counterpart in Sialkot while tracing the location of the boy.
Sialkot DPO Muhammad Hasan Iqbal deputed Organised Crime Unit DSP Mahmoodul Hasan for recoveryoftheboy.
He said DSP Mehmood and CIA Inspector Fahad bin Fida conducted a successful raid on a mansion at village Majra and rescued Mohsin Ali. The captors managed to escape from the spot.
Sialkot police have handed over the boy to his parents.
The Sialkot DPO has announced cash award and a certificate of appreciation for the police team.
