Capacity-building workshop at Sadiq varsity

BAHAWALPUR: The Higher Education Commission (HEC)`s national academy for higher education (NAHE), Islamabad, held a five-day capacity building programme for university management at Government Sadiq CollegeWomenUniversity (GSCWU) on Wednesday.
According to a press release issued by GSCWU, 32 participants from GSCWU and Islamia University Bahawalpur (IUB) attended the programme.
Managing Director (MD) Ms. Noor Amna Malik of HEC`s NAHE, in her keynote address, emphasised the importance of capacity-building training programmes in empowering professionals to excel in their respective fields.
The chief guest, ViceChancellor Prof. Dr. Shazia Anjum of GSCWU, Bahawalpur, inaugurated the programme. She acknowledged NAHE for spearheading such impactful initiatives aimed at empowering faculty and administrative staff. She also commended the organisers and trainers for their valuable contribu-tions to the programme.
PROTEST: A large number of teachers, including females along with their children of public sector schools, took to the streets to press for the acceptance of their demands here on Wednesday.
The protesters under the banner of All Pakistan Teachers Grand Alliance on Wednesday observed strike and marched for hours on various main city roads. Holding placards and raising slogans against the government, the protesters demanded withdrawalofthenewamended pension rules and restoration of the encashment of leaves. Their leaders addressed at various points and announced continuation of their protest demonstrations till their demands were accepted by the government.
ACCIDENT: A passenger was killed while three others suffered serious injuries when a speeding Bahawalpur-bound van overturnednearKhanpur Marchan, about 35 kms from here on BahawalpurAhmedpur East highway on Wednesday.
The body of Shahzad and the injured were shifted to THQ hospital Ahmedpur East. Rescue 1122 reached the scene for operation.
