Hasan guides Zone-VI Whites to victory

KARACHI, Feb 22: Spinner Hasan Khan excelled with a fine bowling effort to play a leading role in Zone-VI Whites qualifying for the semi-finals of the KCCA Woodward Trophy Under-17 Inter-zonal cricket tournament after defeating Zone-I Whites by six wickets in their last Group `D` match at the KCCAStadium here on Friday.

Slow left-armer Hasan claimed six wickets for 40 runs as Zone-I Whites were dismissed for a modest 159 in the 45th over.

Osama All then struck 12 boundaries in scoring an undefeated 85 to help Zone-VI Whites reach their 160-run target in the 33rd over for the loss of four wickets.

Meanwhile, a superb century from Mohammad Tahir inspired Zone-VII to a crushing 181-run victory over Zone-IVBlues at the TMC Ground.

Tahir hammered 13 boundaries in making 102 off 133 deliveries as Zone-VII Whites made 264-9 in their stipulated 50 overs. Ali Hashmi also batted well to strike nine fours and one six lon his knock of 69.

Zone-IV Blues, in reply, managed a paltry score of 83 in 30 overs. Ali Hashmi shone with the ball as well by picking up three wickets for 11 runs with his left-arm spin.Summarised scores: Zone-VT Whites beat Zone-I Whites by six wickets at KCCA Stadium.
