Pakistan rugby team named for Asian event

LAHORE: Pakistan Rugby Union (PRU) named the national sevens rugby team for Alain (UAE) Sevens Asian Development series that include 12 players and three officials who will travel to UA E on Feb 25 for the event.

Head coach Shakeel Ahmed announced the team which comprises Bilal Akbar, Waseem Abbas, Ahmad Khalid Waqas, Hamaza Hamyon din, Ayoub Zafar, Ahmad Waseem, Ali Shahid, Daud Gill, Khalid Hussain Bhatti, Umer Islam, Tahir Rafi and Muhammad Sohaib Akhtar. The officials are head coach Shakeel Ahmad, manager Syed Mozzam Ali Shah and physio Dr. Muhammad Hashim.

PRU coach Shakeel, while speaking to media, said the team preparations are going very well and since the squad consists of mostly young players, there is lot energy and confidence displayed by them before the UAE event.

President Fawzi Khawaja said PRU want its players to feature more on the international circuit.

Teams competing in the Seven Asian Development Series in UAE include Chinese Taipei, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Lebanon, Pakistan, Philippine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Thai Land and UA E.-Sports Reporter
