LIVES are being lost in Karachi almost daily either at the hands of trigger-happy muggers, or under the wheels of dumpers and tankers. Those killed mostly happen to be poor or middle-class people.
The masses are confused about whom to call for help as those responsible for law and order in the city seem to be least bothered about this lawlessness in the largest and the so-called `most developed` city of the country. The ruling party has clearly taken Karachi for granted because of its vote bank in rural Sindh.
The junior partner in the ruling coalition which represents Karachi cannot be absolved of its responsibility either because it has never put its foot down when it is a matter not directly affecting its political perks.
As for the people of Karachi, they should continue to wait for their real leadership to emerge and rid them of their troubles.
Till that happens, the people should just accept the situation as a fait accompli.
