Three `drug dealers` held

KARACHI: Three suspected narcotics dealers, including one carrying a Rs1 million head money, were arrested in a wounded condition during an alleged police encounter in Orangi Town on Saturday.

West SSP Tariq Illahi Mastoi said that acting on a tip-off, police conducted an operation in Qasba Colony within the limits of Pirabad police station.

Upon seeing the police, the suspects allegedly opened fire. During the exchange, a police mobile was hit by three bullets, though no officers were wounded. In retaliatory firing, a wanted drug dealer and his two accomplices were arrested in a wounded condition, the SSP said. Four of their accomplices managed to escape.

The SSP identified the main suspect as Amir Bux alias Badshah, described as a wanted narcotics dealer and the ringleader of a drug network.

He said 11 cases had been registered against him. The suspect had reportedly fled the city to evade arrest and was allegedly operating his network from outside the metropolis.

The Sindh government had announced a Rs1 million reward for his arrest.

The two other suspects were identified as Najeebullah alias Jugnu and Farooq Abbas.
