VEHARI: In an encounter on Wednesday between the police and some criminals in the Sahoka police jurisdiction, 40 kilometres from Vehari, three gunmen were killed.

Saleem, Jamil, and Safdar, according to the police, were arrested by the Sadar police in connection with a robbery case. On Wednesday, the police led them to a location to collect the stolen items, but while they in the jurisdiction of the Sahoka police, other gunmen opened fire, prompting a response from the police. The three gunmen in custody were killed by the assailants` fire during the hour-long exchange of gunfire.

For an autopsy, the police department moved the body to the Vehari District Headquarters Hospital. The robbers were linked to a dozen rape and dacoity cases in the Pakpattan and Vehari areas.

They were active in these district for the last two months.

The other accomplices of these dacoits who fled during the shootout would be arrested soon. Correspondent
