PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra on Friday said that no decision about future status of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) would be imposed on the tribal people.
He said that all the stakeholders would be consulted before going for shaping up future of the tribal areas.
He was talking to a representative delegation of Utmankhel tribe of North Waziristan Agency led by Khan Marjan Khan here at the Governor House.
The entire nation looked at the sacrifices of tribesmen for the integrity and solidarity of the country with honour and dignity and now the time had come to take effective measure for their well-being, Mr Jhagra said.
He said the government was taking steps for bringing the tribal people into the national mainstream, dignified return of IDPs and rehabilitation of the affected families.
The governor said that peace had been restored in the country, including Fata, due to the ‘successful’ Zarb-i-Azab operation and sacrifices of valiant tribal people and security forces, while the process of repatriating iDPs was smoothly going on.
Mr Jhagra said dignified return of IDPs of North Waziristan Agency and their rehabilitation was top priority of the government.
He said massive reforms were on cards in accordance with the aspirations of the tribal people for bringing improvement in their socio-economic life.
The governor also heard problems of the delegation and assured his cooperation to address them. — APP
