Two killed in Swat honour-related case

SWAT: Two persons were killed in an honourrelated shooting in Najigram area of Barikot tehsil here on Tuesday, the police said.
Officials at Ghaligey police station said the incident occurred when a young man, a resident of Maniyar area, entered a house. `The head of the family saw him and opened fire, killing himon the spot,` SHO Ali Bacha said, adding that during the firing, the family head`s own brother was also fatally wounded and succumbed to his injuries in a hospital.
The police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the incident. The locals said the deceased was allegedly involved in an illicit relationship with a woman from the household.SECURITY OF WORSHIP PLACES: District police officer Nasir Mehmood on Tuesday held a meeting with a delegation of the minority community to discuss security of their worship places.
The delegation included Bansri Lal (security in-charge of the local gurdwara), Sardeep Kumar, Pradeep Kumar, and others.
Mr Mehmood assured the delegation that thesecurity of the minority community and their places of worship was among the top priorities of the Swat police.
`All available resources are being utilised to ensure the protection of worship places, including gurdwaras and churches in Swat,` he said.
He also assured the delegation that his office was always open to the members of the minority community and the gen-eral public alike, and any issues related to security or otherwise would be addressed promptly.
: ASP Ghulam Sadiq Khan on Tuesday conducted visits to various basic health units and security checkpoints in the city and Barikot duringthe second day ofthe ongoing anti-polio campaign.
He directed the policemen to ensure safety of themselves and the vaccinators. He emphasisedthe mandatory use of security gear and advised against the use of mobile phones while on duty.
ASP Sadiq accompanied by SDPO Barikot Anwar Khan also inspected the Karakar police post. He reviewed the security arrangements and CCTV monitoring systems at the post, and in light of the current security situation, provided appropriate guidance to the onduty officers.
