Land records services restored

2017-05-23
GUJRAT: Services at the Computerised Land Record Centres across Punjab were restored on Monday after a virus attack on the software, Land Records Management Information System, of the Punjab Land Records Authority, with some centres, including Sargodha Saddar and Dera Ghazi Khan and Kot Chutta tehsil, yet to recover.

The services have been restored at the CLRCs of most of the areas, including Malakwal, Gujrat, Jhelum, Pasrur, Daska and Lahore Cantt, and security measures to protect the LRMIS from any further attack are under way. The services delivery at the CLRCs were affected due to the attack on Saturday. The service centre incharges and software experts tried to sort out the issue on their own but could not succeed.

A CLRC official said the PLRA authorities were of the view that use of the internet might have caused the problem. However, no investigation into the virus attack had been initiated to figure out those responsible for the issue. The PLRA has hired the services of a private IT firm, Systems International, to develop a centralised software and the firm has also started work on the LRMIS.
