Two mills employees injured in Rs10.5m robbery

DERA GHAZI KHAN: Robbers injured two employees of the Choti Textile Mills on resistance and took away Rs10.5m from them on Monday.

Mills employees Hafeez Ahmad and Khalid Mahmood withdrew cash from the branch of a private bank. As soon as they got on the road, the robbers started chasing them and intercepted them after sometime.

The robbers tried to snatch the cash from Ahmad and Mahmood but they offered resistance.

At this, the criminals opened fire on them and injured them seriously.

The injured were shifted to the trauma centre of the teaching hospital of the Ghazi Medical College, Dera Ghazi Khan.

Textile mills owner MNA Jafar Khan Leghari and his spouse former MNA Meena JafarLeghari have demanded immediate arrest of the robbers.

DROWNS: A woman drowned in the Chashma Right Bank Canal at Taunsa Sharif.

Shafiq Zafar was on his way along with his wife, Asia, on a motorcycle when it slipped into the canal. The couple also fell into the canal along the motorcycle. Shafiq managed to come out of water but Asia drowned.

STRIKE: Employees of the District Accounts Office have been on strike for the last three daysfor upgrade of their pay scales,halting the process of salaries of the employees of various departments. The protesters boycotted the work and locked up the office.

Talking to Dawn, presidentoflocalchapterofthe Punjab Treasury Association Ejaz Ahmed Ahmedani said the strike would continue across the province until the upgrade of their pay scales.
