Veteran advertising professional passes away

LAHORE: A veteran in the field of advertising, Shoaib Mir, who passed away onMonday night, was laid to rest on Tuesday afternoon. He was 71.
Mr Mir was suffering from stomach cancer for long and under treatment at S h a u k a t K h a n u mMemorial Hospital. His daughter, Raeesa Mir, told Dawn that her father died at 10:30pm on Monday. Mr Mir is survived by Raeesa, son Abdullah Mir and wife Yasmin Shoaib. His funeral prayers were held on Tuesday after Zuhr prayers at his residence in PCSIR H and he was buried in the housing society`s graveyard.
Raeesa Mir told Dawn that no qu1 will be held for the deceased however a prayer meet will be arranged in the next few days at their residence.
Shoaib Mir was a visiting faculty at Beaconhouse National University (BNU), a communications consultant and creative writer. He has to his credit creation of several iconic advertising campaigns in the five decades that he worked with all the major advertising firms of the country.
He graduated from the University of Punjab and started his advertising career from Prestige Communications, Karachi as a copywriter in March 1969. He later went on to work with Scan Communications, Blazon, Manhattan Leo Burnett, OrientmMcCann, Lowe & Rauf, Orient Advertising and Midas. He was teaching at BNU till he passed away.
