There are practical alternatives to demonstrations
2021-05-23
T HIS is with reference to the report `Thousands turn up at `Pakistan for Palestine` demonstration in Karachi` (May 20). Since independence, Pakistanis politicians, media persons and the public at large have taken to the streets on issues like Kashmir and Palestine. It is as if we all want to cash in on everything that goes around us.
The question is: does it actually help the cause orthecountry? People `show their emotions` and then everything vanishes into thin air. Politicians come out on the streets to peddle their agenda and self-projection, and the masses follow them with a herd mentality.
In my opinion, we must do practical things, like getting ourselves well organised, making policies at the nationallevel for boycotting the products of countries we want to show our anger against. We should go for manufacturing our own brands and products instead of shoudngonthe streets.
We should not be a tool in the hands of some, and must think individually about what we can do. If you are an educationist, prepare the young generation by teaching them about our ideology. If you are an engineer or a businessman, do whatever you can to make the country stable by making your own brands, formulating better business policies, adopting technology, so that we can be in a better position to help all those who we really want to help.
