LANDI KOTAL: Khyber district police officer Mohammad Hussain on Saturday inaugurated a driving licence office in Jamrud tehsil.
The ceremony was attended by a sizeable number of local elders, tribesmen and police officials.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Hussain said that residents of Khyber now needed not go to Peshawar for acquisition of their driving licence as the facility had been provided to them at their doorstep.
He said that in order to implement traffic rules and regulations in Khyber district, 20 police officials from the three subdivisions would be sent to Kohat for getting specialised training in traf fic regulation.
These trained officials would perform traffic related duties at their respective subdivisions after completion of their training, he added.
Meanwhile, Deputy Superintendent of Police Mazhar Afridi has been appointed as traffic in-charge of Khyber tribal district as he also assumed charge of his new responsibilities af ter opening of the driving licence ofhce in Jamrud.
