`Adherence to state ideology mandatory for all citizens`

HYDERABAD: Sindh University (SU) Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Fateh Mohammad Burfat has said that adhering to ideological principles of the state, furthering national cause and serving the motherland regardless of caste, creed, ethnicity and faith are mandatory for all Pakistanis.
He was speaking at the fourth leg of two-week-long online national youth orientation sessions being organised on various SU campuses by varsity`s Pakistan Study Centre (PSC) under the title of `Together, we are for Pakistan;. Today`s sessionwas meant for the students of the Thatta campus.
`We have rich tradition at the SU to promote national agenda through celebration of national days, organising dialogues, seminars, webinars and by holding art exhibitions, and sports and debate contests,` he said. The thing that could transform a nation-state into its ideal version was based on quality education, active youth and responsible citizenry.
He felicitated PSC director Prof Dr Shuja Ahmed Mahesar for the continuing success of youth orientation webinars.
Defence and strategic studies department chairperson Dr Shabana Fayyaz of Quaid-i-Azam University stressed the needfor a pas-sionate and dedicated youth brigade to lead society from the front for the progress and prosperity of Pakistan.
Anchorperson Mansoor Azam Qazi described internal cohesiveness with patriotism in the hearts of the youth as a panacea to majority of the country`s problems.
He urged the youth to exercise all possible precautions while using media outlets where the enemy, too, uploaded its venomous propaganda, furthered its ulterior agenda and built its narratives on important issues.
SU Thatta campus Pro-VC Prof Dr Rafique Ahmed Memon said students in his campus had patriotic spirit; they wereeager to contribute to national development as and when an opportunity presented itself.
Eulogising VC`s efforts for infusing patriotic passion in students, he thanked him for his guidance and patronage.
Prof Mahesar presented a note of welcome and shed light on the purpose of the programme.
Dr Sumera Umrani thanked the VC and panellists. A large number of f aculty members and students participated in the webinar.
Meanwhile, the VC expressed grief over the demise of noted educationist and administrator Prof Nisar Ahmed Siddiqui, VC of Sukkur IBA University.
He paid tribute to his ser-vices and contributions, stating that IBA had started with two classrooms borrowed from Public School Sukkur and later it transformed into one of Pakistan`s finest higher education institutions.The VC said he was a proud alumnus of SU.
He said Prof Siddiqui had immense interest in rural development which was why he selected the farflung city of Sukkur in northern Sindh for IBA.
