POWER PROTEST: A large number of people on Wednesday held a protest demonstration at the Zero Point on the Indus highway near Jarma against 12 to 18 hours of electricity loadshedding.

Chairman of Sons of Kohat, a platform of 20 social organisations, Shah Mehmood and a senior leader of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf, Daud Afridi had called the protest.

The protesters from Bannu, Rawalpindi and Hangu roads gathered on the highway and chanted slogans against the government for failing to give people respite from the excessive loadshedding in hot weather.

Speaking to the protesters, Daud Afridi said those who criticised the PTI government for one hour of loadshedding had increased the outages duration to unbearable levels after coming into power.

He said the government was making lame excuses that shortage of coal and furnace oil had shut many power plants, whereas there were no such issues in the PTI government. Shah Mehmood said despite assurances by the district administration and the Peshawar Electric Supply Company officials, power outages persisted. Correspondent
