Political struggle of Mukhtar Bacha lauded

PESHAWAR: Speakers at a condolence reference lauded the political struggle of former president of National Party Pakhtunkhwa Mukhtar Bacha, saying the vacuum created due to his death would never be filled.

The condolence reference was organised by the National Party Pakhtunkhwa Wahdat at Peshawar Press Club here on Saturday.

Leaders of different political parties, including provincial president of ANP Mian Iftikhar Hussain, provincial president of QWP Sikander Hayat Khan Sherpao, Mazdoor Kisan Party central president Afzal Khamosh, Rukhshanda Naz, Maryam Bibi, National Party Pakhtunkhwa Wahdat leader Taimur Kamal, Haider Zaman and Ali Akbar participated.

The speakers said that Mukhtar Bacha stood by his thoughts till the end of his life.

They said the world valued hisideas and thoughts, and that his services to the workers were not hidden from anyone. They said he worked in every field and people respected him a lot.

Mukhtar Bacha was born on February 25, 1944 in Pir Baba area of Buner district. In 1965, after doing BSc in botany from Karachi University, he did MSc from the University of Peshawar. He taught in the high school of his village for some time. But soon he left teaching due to interest in politics. Then he worked as an agricultural officer in Tarnap Farm for some time, but on the insistence of his friends, he started regular politics in 1971 as the first secretary of the Communist Party of Pakhtunkhwa.

He inaugurated an office in the name of Kisan Jirga in Khyber Bazaar and started the struggle for class politics.

Communist Party was the most popular in Karachi due to his contacts with college friends. Bureau Report
