Rain provides respite from humid spell

LAHORE: Lahorites breathed a sigh of relief on Sunday as much-needed rain brought the mercury down in the provincial capital and broke the spell of oppressive humidity.

Various areas across the city, including Abbot Road, Lakshmi Chowk, Shimla Pahari, Ferozepur Road, Kalma Chowk, Canal Road, Mall Road, Jail Road, and Islampura, experienced a refreshing change in weather due to strong winds accompanying the rain, providing respite from the recent hot and humid spell.

The Met Office anticipates the minimum temperature in the city to be around 28 degrees Celsius, while the maximum is expected to reach 36 degrees C. The humidity level has soared to 70 percent and wind speed recorded at 13km per hour.

It has also predicts rain in Islamabad, upper Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, indicating a widespread change in weather across the country. Moist currents from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal are penetrating the upper & central parts of the country. A westerly wave is also affecting the country`s upper parts.

Hot and humid weather persisted in most districts of the province. However, partly cloudy weather with rain-windstorm/ thundershower (with isolated heavy rainfalls) was witnessed in Sargodha, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Okara, Chiniot, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, Jhang, Murree, Galiyat, Rawalpindi, Attock, Talagang, Chakwal, Jhelum, and surrounding areas.
