Maudoodi explains policy

2025-06-23
LAHORE: Maulana Abul Ala Maudoodi, Ameer of Jamaat-i-Islami, outlining the basic ideology of his party in an interview with the APP in Lahore today [June 22], stressed that in an Islamic State, based and run on the Shariat, many of the present-day problems would be solved in the best interests of the people as a whole without in any way resorting to terroristic or Communistic techniques.

He held that in a society based on the edicts of Islam economic exploitation of one class by another was out of the question.

He believed that if landlords were made to conform to the principles laid down by Islam in regard to property not only there would be no class conflict, but there would also be no accumulation of wealth and landed property in the hands of a small group of persons.

Under the Islamic laws he foresaw the automatic disintegration of large estates into small holdings.

... About the immediate programme of action of his party Maulana Maudoodi revealed that in the Punjab the party would shortly launch a campaign to educate and prepare the masses for the forthcoming general elections to the provincial legislature.
