LAHORE: A `special` helpline 1124 has been established for the redressal of public complaints related to the jail department, civil defense, highway patrol and security companies.
Set up on the direction of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the helpline will run under the Directorate of Monitoring Cell established at the Home Department, says a press release.
In a statement, the CM said the 1124 facility can also be availed for reporting bombs or suspicious objects at any place.
The Punjab Highway Patrol contact system has been established for assistance and guidance during travel onmajor highways of Punjab. Passengers can also call 1124 for help in case of vehicle breakdown, robbery or any emergency.
She said prompt action will be taken to check overloading and careless driving on public transport.
`Passengers can call the helpline for medical assistance while traveling on any highway under the Punjab Highway Patrol.
The chief minister said a complaint can also be filed on 1124 regarding inappropriate behavior of the prison staff, like demanding bribe.
She said action will also be taken against security companies on complaints of poor wages and long duty hours.
