LAKKI MARWAT: The police foiled a bid to smuggle falcons and arrested a suspect having precious birds in their possession in Karak district on Tuesday.
A police official said that after receiving credible information about the birds` smuggling bid, DPO Shahbaz Elahi alerted city police with directions to foil the attempt at all costs.
He said that a police party established a temporary checking point on busy Peshawar-Karachi Highway to check suspected vehicles.
`During the checking, the cops seized acarton from a passenger vehicle wherein 10 falcons were hidden,` he claimed, adding that the birds were being transported to an unknown location illegally.
He said that the arrested suspect failed to produce any official documents viz-aviz possession and transportation of falcons.
`The falcons were handed over to the wildlife department after completing legal formalities,` he added.
Separately, police arrested a suspect and seized fake currency notes of Rs ten thousand denomination from him.
He was shifted to the police station where a case was registered against him under relevant sections of the law.
