Cop killed, two injured in encounter with POs

SIALKOT: A police constable was martyred while two others sustained critical injuries during an encounter with some proclaimed offenders here on Tuesday at Kharotta Syedaan village near Sialkot.
On a tip-off, a Kotli Loharaan police team conducted a raid to arrest some drug trafficlcers. On seeing the police, the suspects opened fire as a result of which constable Muhammad Zubair, 45, of Ahmednagar-Narowal, lost his life while his colleagues Zaheer and Kashif suffered injuries. The suspects managed their escape.
Theinjuredwereshifted to the Government Allama Iqbal Memorial Teaching Hospital, Sialkot, in a critical condition.
E-EMPLOYMENT: The Punjab government`s `e-Employment Centre` began working at the Government College Women`s University (GCWU) of Sialkot on Tuesday.
Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) Director General Sajid Latif inaugurated the centre. Vice-Chancellor Dr Farhat Saleemi was also present.Mr Latif said that of the 33,105 applicants, 10,000 candidates had been selected across Punjab for training at the centres.
The Sialkot centre will train 344 candidates.
Those having 16 years of education can apply online for the training.
The centre provides the candidates with training in freelancing, PHP development, Java script development, web design, HTML 5 development, Wordpress, responsive HTML MySQL, domain and hosting, content writing, proposal writing, digital marketing, social media marketing, internet research, virtual assistant, email marketing, recruitment, data entry, blogging, affiliate marketing, E-commerce and search engine optimisation.
The centre will also provide co-working space, mentoring, He said such 40 centres would be established across the Punjab.
Calling the initiative a revolutionary programme, he said these centres would promote talent of the educated youth.
Dr Farhat Saleemi said the programme will generate 10,000 jobs annually.
She assured cooperation from the GCWU for the project. She also signed a memorandum of understanding with the PITB officials.
